86PLOT RELEASES AMBITIOUS, INTROSPECTIVE DEBUT ALBUM
Identity Crisis, the debut album from 86plot, is now available to stream and purchase exclusively at Bandcamp.com, and will release on major streaming platforms in March. A dynamic mashup of original electronic music and dialogue from Pirandello’s Six Characters in Search of an Author, the album is a stimulating blend of experimental influences ranging from conscious hip-hop to postminimalism.
Balancing brash meditation with self-deprecation, Identity Crisis weaves philosophical nuance into a sonic fabric of personal and social awareness. From the heartbreaking reality of dependence to candid commentaries on society’s collective indifference, each track peels back a layer of discovery and unites the pleasure and pain that is inextricably tied to the unknown.
In Review: Identity Crisis is a techno driven masterpiece of consciousness and awareness of one’s own self and self-indulgences. Starting s if the intro to a sci-fi movie, it draws you in and the beat carries you through, track to track, this album is intriguing. The artist does not rly on special effects or sound bites, there is well written lyrics in adjacent and synonymous music that fits together perfectly. Each track has grooves and hooks that make you want more. This is the obvious culmination of work that is, I believe, only the first major step in the career of n artist that will excite his fans forever.
86plot is the solo project of Bob Benson, an Iowa-based composer and producer. The full-length release is a follow-up to the 2018 EP Waiting to Blink, for which 100% of proceeds benefit autism research at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital.
