Rising Appalachia will be in Santa Maria, CA for an intimate live performance at the Presqu’ile Winery on July 7th.
As world travelers for nearly two decades, Rising Appalachia have merged multiple global music influences with their own southern roots to create the inviting new folk album, Leylines. Remarkably the band built its legion of listeners independently—a self-made success story that has led to major festival appearances and sold-out shows at venues across the country.
Rising Appalachia is composed of co-founders and sisters Leah Smith (vocals, banjo, bodhran) and Chloe Smith (guitar, fiddle, banjo) as well as David Brown (stand-up bass, baritone guitar), Biko Casini (world percussion, n’goni), Arouna Diarra (n’goni, talking drum), and Duncan Wickel (fiddle, cello).
Their recent video release, “Harmonize” featured in Rolling Stone Magazine has meet with overwhelming positive response from fans old and new, as well as accolades from the music community.
The sibling songwriters Leah and Chloe Smith released their new album ‘Leylines’ on May 3rd and it has been and continues to be one of the most exciting releases yet this year. Special guests on Leylines include folk hero Ani DiFranco, soulful songwriter Trevor Hall, and jazz trumpeter Maurice Turner.
Leylines is being released in partnership with Come to Life, a music and media platform under the wider umbrella of Guayaki Yerba Mate, a company who aims to “steward and restore 200,000 acres of rainforest and create 1,000 living wage jobs by 2020.” You’ll find more information about those missions here.
