Interview: Alonzo

Passionate singer, songwriter, dancer and onstage dynamo, Alonzo is stealing every heart in Hollywood.

Thanks for joining us today, Alonzo! Tell us about the influences inspiring your current sound, and how it has evolved over time?

Hey! Thanks for having me!

I’d say my sound has developed over the years. I grew up in the church so I’ve always been surrounded by soulful musical influences. The pop rock side of me has a lot to do with the types of artists that influence me and the types of music that like to sing. Tina Turner is one of my biggest vocal influences. I also love soulful divas like Patti Labelle, Aretha Franklin and Whitney Houston. I’ve always known that my voice couldn’t just be one thing. I have too much soul to be pop and too much power not to be Rock. So, I called my genre Rock Pop Soul.

How would you describe your live show?

I’d say seeing me live in 1 word is POWERFUL. You will get goosebumps, you may cry, and you may even laugh. I’ve been told that my show is an “Emotional Roller Coaster”. I always give my heart and I understand that I am on that stage for the people

Please tell us about your new, yet to be released music.

Ahhh I’m so excited for everyone to hear everything I’ve been working on. Everything on this EP has been produced by Eric Zayne who is one of the most talented artists I know. It’s been a long time coming. My debut EP will make you FEEL if nothing else. Its Sexy, Its Emotional, Its Rock Pop and Soul. There’s literally something on it for everyone no matter your age or race. I have songs that will make you want to dance and songs that will make you cry.

My debut single off the upcoming EP is now available EVERYWHERE! Check out my Debut Single “Your Medicine” at this link:

Where do you seek inspiration when creating songs?

I like to think of the inspirations for my songs as divine. Every song on the EP was created on the spot in the studio. Nothing was pre-written. We went in the studio with nothing and listened to what our hearts wanted to say that day and made magic. Anything can be inspiration as long as we feel a spark in our hearts. For example, If I’m in the studio and look up at a calendar on the wall and feel like oh wow its already September the year went by so fast. I’m inspired to write a song about how we don’t have a lot of time. Literally just let my heart lead.

What have been some of your most memorable moments thus far in your career?

Top 2 Memorable moments was performing live in front of millions on Americas Got Talent and performing at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado

Please let us know about the upcoming release dates and your next show date/ location.
