Exclusive Interview with Living Darian
How would you classify your music?
I’d call it Empowering Pop/ Blues, Rap
Who are some of your top 5 musical influences?
I will always be partial to Old School & the blues. Michael Jackson & New Edition made me want to perform in front of thousands. Ottis Reading, James Ingram & Lionel Richie made me want to sing from the soul. Pac made me want to say something to change the world.
What do you want fans to take from your music?
I want people to be inspired. To feel better, do better & feel better
How’s the music scene in your locale?
In Cincinnati, people will go to clubs & bars and jam with local musicians. People will also fill up the Area for a major artist. But there aren’t a bunch of music success stories with any longevity anymore but I’m hoping to be able to change that.
What is the best concert you have been to? What do you like most about playing live?
I love making a connection with people through music. Performing is a powerful way to make that connection. I love to watch the release of folks dancing and clapping and to be a part of it but, I also like when I get the opportunity to do some or the more “heart-felt” songs. Every audience is different but whether it’s an audience of 10 or 10,000 I will give the best show I can.
Is there a song on your latest CD release here that stands out as your personal favorite, and why? My favorite song on “Live For Love” is a tie between “Live for Love” because of the way it makes me feel and “One Song” because of the way it makes other people feel.
How have you evolved as an artist over the last year?
I grown a lot as an artist in the business because this has been a tremendously successful year for me. So, I’m seeing things and doing things that are new for me. I’ve also been playing a lot more with touring so I’m improving my instrumentation as well as my over-all performance
If you could meet, play a gig, co-write a song, have dinner, have a drink with any band or artist (dead or alive) who would it be?
Honestly, I’d really appreciate a conversation with any major act but I’d love to work with Ne-Yo for not only the artistry but also the business & licensing aspects of music
What’s next for you?
I’m still booking shows so I’ll still be performing but, I’m beginning work on a soundtrack for the movie “Breaking The Silence” The Life story of Best Selling Author, Holli Pellman As well as working with my daughter, Nevaeh Sky on her project, “Sky’s The Limit” as well as Blizz & Upcoming artists with my company, New King Records
