PDX Be There featured artist Logan Lynn was on Sheila Hamilton’s Beyond Well Podcast this week talking about music, mental health and the #PDXBeThere Music Festival! Listen at www.BeyondWellWithSheilaHamilton.com
On why this event and cause is important to him, Lynn says “As a suicide survivor myself, and as a person who is in longterm recovery from drugs and alcohol, I always try and show up for mental and behavioral health whenever I can. Veterans deserve to feel safe in and supported by the communities they return to, and a lot needs to change before that’s the reality most face. The #PDXBeThere festival is an opportunity for a really diverse group of acts to come together to deliver that message loud and clear, and support the local groups doing this important work.”
Proceeds from #PDXBeThere will benefit Do Good Multnomah, Lines For Life, Team Rubicon, The Portland Veterans Administration Suicide Prevention Program, The Oregon Army National Guard, Veterans For Peace, and Judah Praise Deliverance Veteran’s Outreach. Inspired by Willie Nelson’s “Farm Aid”, the goal of #PDXBeThere is to build unity through collaboration to effectively help our local heroes.
Approximately 22 veterans commit suicide each day; only 6% of those veterans are aware of the services available to them. #PDXBeThere is a vehicle to not only create awareness around these disparities, but also contribute to the organizations providing resources to those veterans forgotten, ignored, and underserved.
