Noted Pop/Rock and Soul Singer / Songwriter  Jeff McMullen has released his latest EP Pain Management on Bandcamp and select sources, treating fans new and old to his musical stylings that are based in a legacy of music performance. In his background as a performer of music by classic and contemporary creativity, Jeff’s personal work stands out among many, grounded in an exuberant love of music.

Throughout his decades of music in his home region of North Texas and beyond, singer and multi-instrumentalist (keyboards and guitar) Jeff McMullen’s edgy, lived in and deeply soulful vocals have earned him a stellar rep as what one astute fan called “the love child of Joe Cocker and Bob Seger.” Scratching the surface of his multi-faceted artistry and bound to elicit interest in his larger catalog, McMullen’s new five track EP Pain Management perfectly captures his talents as a dynamic rocker and balladeer whose songs are timeless and contemporary yet reminiscent of his favorite savant songwriters from the 70’s.

The opening track Shyne On, a powerful and emotionally invoking piece has an 80’s po rock architecture yet is set in a NOW SOUND, having a bold brashness that capture the heart, stirring and pleasing to experience. The Unmailed Letter shows Jeff’s lighter and loving side, a tender romantic piece the is of a love lorn heart, taking cues from the Dan Fogelberg school of style, ideally a perfect piece of music for a rainy day. The song Evidence has the tempo of a traveling song, a search for what life has to offer and the search for life’s true meaning, while the following track Someday tells the story of a person whom accepts an untimely end to a love that still has a chance I one only tries to understand what could be, if the chance is given. The final track, Its Only Rain takes us full circle, once again to experience the stirring and powerful emotional timber of Jeff’s voice, which is soul touching in a way that you just have to hear.

I would say the only problem I have with the latest EP release Pain Management by Jeff McMullen is that is it just not enough, I could listen to this man’s voice time and time again and still want more, the musical art of Jeff McMullen is masterful and exquisite.
