The American artist abroad can bring his craft to new vars and become a sensation, yet, now be well known at home… but when an American artist that has a pedigree such as Will Jacobs has, it becomes a monolithic event, it takes their music to new levels and can bring them into the company of international artists that find a kinship with them, and they become as brothers.

So it is no surprise that American born Blues Artist Will Jacobs connected with and collaborated with the iconic Marcos Coll to create a blues album that connects cultures, translates onto an international language of understanding and not only enlivens the Blues scene in Germany where both artists presently reside, but has already come across stateside and is bringing done the Blues red Hot and all in a free and easy style.

In Review: “Takin’ Our Time” features the Guitar work of Will Jacobs and the talents of HOHNER endorsee Marcos Coll, as a studio musician Marcos has recorded with nationally famous Spanish bands such as Siniestro Total, and has recorded music for TV and movies. Marcos Coll attributes his desire to play music was influenced by his musician uncle and the legendary artist  Ñaco Goñi . With an impressive background and an equally impressive catalog of music, he has performed in several countries of Europe, America, Asia and elsewhere around the globe.

Will Jacobs, whom has been touring and Performing in Europe, bringing his blend of Powerhouse Blues, R&B, Soul, Gospel, Funk to the people and filling the house to standing room only levels. Known for his powerful, live performances, Will Jacobs is a modern Blues/Funk/Soul artist based currently based in Berlin, Germany. Originally from Chicago, USA, he’s already a well-seasoned performer at  such a young age.

It Ain’t Safe starts out the album with an upbeat and soulful style, rich in the modern blues tradition, while he track Going To Berlin is more old school blues, with rich vocals and stylized guitar riffs. What U Doing sounds like a seventies funk infused trip, with a rock tempo and some really solid Harmonica work.

The track C.J. Bounce reminds me of the James Brown Souls Train, some really solid gold there. Stranded takes us back to the St. Louis Blues feel, while the track Hey Baby has a pop jump 2 step bounce and is a great club dance feeling song, Just love the vocals on this one. Blues Cazorla Boogie is definitely a Jumping and Jiving Piece, and for a song that is purely instrumental, it hold your attention, and every note is perfect. One Too Many Times, which is the 2nd to last track is the magnum opus, bringing everything into focus, the music is pristine and this song, I feel, highlights the talents of Marcos Coll, giving him a wealth of “solo” opportunities…. In this case, using the Harmonica as a replacement for vocals, sounding out the time and filling it up, in a bold and expressive way.

The last track , Going To Berlin, reprises as a live performance recording, and is a killer rendition, and although you don’t hear an audience per say, you can tell it is live, no effects, no dubs, just the real deal from beginning to end, just like the concept of the album “Takin’ Our Time”, a Real Deal!

The album is presently available for order via Will Jacobs website and the retailer for Marcos Coll.
