IPM: What inspired you to write music like you do?
I was inspired to write music because music saved my life! I was incredibly depressed growing up (as a lot of us were ) and discovered the band, KoRn. The lyrics really hit me back then and made me feel like I wasn’t alone in feeling the way I do. I hope to help others discover that they aren’t alone as well.
IPM: What are or were some of the challenges for you in producing or performing while keeping true to your vision of your music?
I am always looking for ways to expand my live shows. I’ve always wanted to have a huge production and have been working hard towards achieving that. I can’t wait for you to see my new show!
IPM: Tell us about some of your recent shows / performances- anything that stands out, or is there anything that you feel makes for an exciting highlight?
My favorite moment was performing at Warped Tour in Anchorage, Alaska. It was so great being able to connect with fans. It was amazing seeing 1000 people soaking in the music.
IPM: Any Albums coming out soon or shows you are looking share with fans?
My new single will be released in a few months! This new song is totally different from anything I’ve released before. I’m very happy with it and excited to share it with everyone. I am also working on my debut album, called, “She”. It’s been a long time in the making. It will be out Jan 2020. The music is a combination of high energy- dark and creepy synths topped with a floating, haunting vocal. I have a Texas tour planned in October. As well as touring the album in January in the US, starting in Texas and ending in California. I am looking forward to each city!
IPM: Any “strange tales” or things that may have happened during a show that seemed too weird to be true?
Someone came on stage wearing a unicorn mask once, that was very interesting..(Laughs). Also cops came and shut down a performance – it was pretty crazy! I kept playing until they literally pulled the plug.
IPM: Where do you see your music going, where would you like to be in the near future, goals, dreams and passions?
Ideally, I see Vanilla Sugar continuing to tour globally, and releasing new material often! I would love to tour forever…
IPM: What would you like our readers to know about you, Why do you think that they would enjoy your music / performances?
The music is just right; dark enough, heavy enough. You can get lost in it. I love that. You can interpret the lyrics any way you want, and apply it to your life.
IPM: Where can our readers find your music?
