The ÆTHER set to release brand new album ‘ÆTHERVILLE’
Influenced by the desolate landscapes of Scandinavia and the works of Ólafur Arnalds, Nils Frahm and Jóhann Jóhannsson, ÆTHERVILLE essentially serves as ‘a soundtrack to an imaginary film’. Detailing a love-barren, dystopian society, The ÆTHERbeautifully blends an experimental concoction of acoustic and electronic instruments, creating a truly unique atmosphere from track to track. His vocal versatility adds new dimensions to the project, as many parts powerful as it is brittle, in places reminiscent of Thom Yorke of Radiohead.
The ÆTHER is the solo project of 24 year-old David Smith. Born and raised in North-East England, Smith describes himself as ‘naturally reclusive and introspective’, opting to dedicate most of his time to crafting music in his home studio. Since releasing his first EP ‘A D D E N D A’ in late 2018, he has gone on to complete 3 full length projects in just under a year. Citing an eclectic mix of influences, which include Cinematic Orchestra, Patrick Watson and Portishead, The ÆTHER continues to maintain a sound that stands out within today’s saturated market.
ÆTHERVILLE will be available on all major streaming platforms from the 11th October 2019.
