Exclusive Interview with Wanderraven

Bringing his unique musical stylings back to the Hotel Cafe stage this week, Wanderraven delivers. Read on to learn more about the man behind the sound.

Thanks for your time today, Wanderraven.  Tell us about your latest music and next moves.

I’ve released two songs so far that I ‘m pretty stoked about. I have a full album recorded and I’ll be releasing another single soon.

It’s no secret that the music biz is tough and not for the faint of heart. What’s the biggest problem you’ve had to overcome so far?

I don’t know what the biggest problem was but I’ve had plenty.  Finances can be tough especially when you got 5 guys on the road and your tour bus breaks down and you’ve gotta cancel a show.  I’ve made some poor choices along the way with people to work with, but you live and learn. I love making music and I’ll continue to do that no matter how tough the “music biz” is.

What do you enjoy most about being a musician?

The creative expression. From beginning to end. Creating a song and then carrying it out in to the world through a performance.  That’s very exciting to me.

If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?

I wish that musicians were more fairly compensated. Music has become somewhat of a commodity due to technology. We’re able to listen so easily to whatever we want, whenever we want, pretty affordably. I’m quite sure the people who created those songs deserve a bigger piece of the pie.

Is writing music therapeutic for you?  And if so, how?

Yes, most of the time. It can tap into something bigger and deeper that resonates with me and then it gets released as I work through it. Sometimes it’s just really fun and that can be therapeutic too.

Describe your sound in one sentence.
