Hailing from Germantown, MD, Tan Confetti is a rapper, producer, and musician using his talents to spread awareness on mental health and issues in communities of color. He delivers a handcrafted sound you will not receive anywhere else, with influences ranging from experimental hip-hop to black metal. His main goal is to bring understanding and quotable bars to those who lack representation in their communities.
“Written, produced, performed, and directed by me, this song was written in the aftermath of the Christchurch shooting. It is an honest and aggressive take on trauma as a first-generation child of immigrant” parents.
His new video, Active Shooter Training is brilliant as to it is from the point of view of one that sees the insanity from another point of view, the line that hits hard “Active Shooter Training at the Mosque” – we now live in a world where this type of training is needed in religious places of worship and grade schools… where in praise we need to worry about being harmed not only by outsiders, but from those that claim to be of the same faith, the same country, the same color…
In a Quote on his Facebook page:
“Sometime after the Christchurch Massacre in New Zealand, I sat down and reflected for a long time on what had happened. As I was reflecting, I got a notification from the local mosque about “Active Shooter Training” happening as a direct result of the news. As surreal as this moment was, I knew I had to speak up and speak out for those like me who were just confused and hurt by what seemed like an everyday occurrence. These thoughts turned into a song which turned into a video. This is Active Shooter Training.”
Personally, I find this artists work to be an example of what we need to see, face and learn from, if not only to find a way to end the spread of hate. The words on the white board are the names of victims of hate crimes, live lost for no reason.
Tan Confetti is an artists with vision, seriously look this one up.
