Resurrection Fern – Siren
“In Greek mythology, the “Siren” would lure sailors out to sea to shipwreck with their Song. In this song, Fern’s “Siren” calls her into the Storm to find herself again. As Fern states in her lyrics, “Maybe a storm is what it takes, to make me free.”
This is the third and final single release from Fern’s upcoming EP (Set for release in late November). “Siren” lures the listener in with its waves of calm and vulnerability. The smooth harmonies of the chorus make a beautiful contrast along-side the simplicity of sound in the verses. Be lured into a beautiful storm with “Siren”
In her video, it seems like a still image come to life, the filters act as a medium to transfix the viewer, like in a magical world where images move and come to life, to interact with the existing world, no longer wishing to be a memory of the past, but a living and breathing being, like the original, to live a life and be a part of the wonder.
Resurrection Fern is part of the new movement of pioneering musicians that have taken their live performances beyond the small reach of bars and cafes and into the laptops, televisions, and mobile phones of fans all over the world. The recent ubiquity of live online streaming platforms like Twitch.tv has made this possible.
For the past 3 years Fern’s channel, twitch.tv/resurrectionfern, has been at the forefront of this new wave of online artistic expression. Hundreds of fans tune in multiple times per week to not only watch Fern share her live musical performances, but to be a part of her daily experience as an independent singer-songwriter. The platform offered by twitch.tv allows Fern an intimacy with her audience that is lacking from traditional live performances. Utilizing her channel’s live chat function Fern directly engages with her audience throughout every single performance. Fern fields questions, shares stories, and simply enjoys the company of her community, the “FernFam”.
