Violates / Violets is a 2-piece electronic trap punk band from Atlanta, GA. Coming off a string of solo projects, guitarist Jay Katana approached vocalist Chris Edge (A Very Loud Death) to create a new sound which blends the adrenaline rush of street racing with the balls to the wall attitude of 80’s metal.
Both Chris and Jay played together in bands For This Day (and) Sin. Now, two brothers in music reunite to record full length album “the Split”, which is going to be produced by award-winning producer Luke Campolieta. The full album will be released early in 2020.
If you have followed the Indie Music Scene and track the Instrumental Guitarist genre, then the name Jay Katana is not unknown to you. As a highly-skilled guitarist and performer, Jay injects his signature brand of individuality into any song.
With his tonal range and flawless technique, the Atlanta, GA-based musician works his signature style into virtually any musical genre. Katana’s sound is very recognizable, his leads are intense and versatile. His composing skills, performance and onstage action always give the audience a memorable experience and elevate the listener’s emotions.
While the music of Jay Katana has up to now been enigmatic, using the guitar itself as the medium of conveying the message, now with the addition Chris Edge and his vocal talents , this is already forming into a duo of incredible music prowess and power. the voice of Chris Edge cuts through the music, and like Jay’s last name, it is a formidable weapon, only matched in power by Jay’s skills.
The present tracks on schedule for launch / release are, Soft Core, Retake and Flesh of Flesh, are three vibrant, powerful ad emotionally driven tracks. The video (posted above) for the song Retake gives a glimpse into what we are to hear from this reformation of the duo.
The track Soft Core is splendid and gripping, an emotional roller-coaster and lyrically rich.
The third track Flesh of Flesh, is acoustic groove from the groups earlier Sin days. (circa 2013). Chris dedicated this song to his mother, a very beautiful woman who ruined her life in a young age. A song hat is both tributary and solemn, it is quite gripping.
