Polar States are set to release, ‘Sleeping Rough’ on the 24th of January via Killing Moon. Having wrapped up 2019 with a packed out debut UK headline tour, the band are set to perform at several international festivals this year, having been nominated by Liverpool Sound City for INES 2020.

With singles landing on New Music Friday, UK Viral 50, Hot New Bands & The Rock List the band are rapidly becoming one of Liverpools’ most talked about exports.

Having grown up in towns dotted around the Northwest of England, the band came together with a relentless aspiration to create an existence bigger than the world they were born into, pushing back on foregone notions of how you should live your life.
They spent their first two years quietly writing and refining their sound, whilst privately sending out demos to their followers on Instagram. This sparked an early cult following, built on the back of songs documenting their immediate surroundings and honest experiences.
On Sleeping Rough, singer Paul says, ‘Sleeping Rough was inspired by the escalating homelessness on the streets of Liverpool. It’s a song about the struggle, but also the optimism that things can improve. We chose it as a single after the reaction it received at a show with did with Wolf Alice as part of Break The Chain festival, a fundraiser for the homeless’.
The early buzz surrounding the band caught the attention of Coldplay Producer, John Withnall and BBC Introducing Merseyside’s Dave Monks, who quickly pushed the bands’ first official release onto BBC Radio 1 and BBC 6 Music, before their debut sold out O2 Academy gig.
Further Radio 1 airtime, festivals, syncs to Hollyoaks, Tattoo Fixers, Sky Sports and the Topman in-store playlist followed. Sleeping Rough follows the previous debut EP ‘All You Couldn’t See’, co-produced by Larry Hibbitt (Sea Girls, Sundara Karma, Nothing But Thieves, Bloxx).
