Jim Andralis & The Syntonics are releasing a new album called My Beautiful Enemy

March 27th! The following evening (March 28th) they’re having a very special release show at Joe’s Pub in NYC.

New York City singer-songwriter Jim Andralis released his debut album, Your Dying Wish Come True, in 2016, receiving glowing feedback from both fans and press. The Miami Herald called it “one of the best solo debut discs of the year,” and OutSmart Magazine referred to the album as “brilliant, funny, and sometimes utterly heartbreaking.”

Andralis got his start writing songs, singing, and playing the accordion in the early-to-mid aughts’ downtown NYC band The Isotoners, a gay post-punk cult sensation. He later established himself as a featured player among a dazzling roster of performers at the acclaimed monthly variety show Our Hit Parade from 2008 through 2012 at Joe’s Pub, where he currently co-hosts the country-themed variety show and hootenanny Grand Ole Pubry.

Working empathic double duty, Andralis also serves as a trauma-focused psychotherapist in private practice and an Internal Family Systems Therapy assistant trainer.

Shortly after the release of his solo debut, Andralis made the decision to round out his sound by adding the harmonies of Julie DeLano, Leslie Graves, Susan Hwang, Jessie Kilguss and husband Larry Krone to his performances.

In 2018 Andralis released the first album under the new name Jim Andralis & the Syntonics called Shut Up Shut Up, which Kathleen Hanna called “the most slept on amazing album of the year.” 

On March 27, 2020, Jim Andralis & the Syntonics will release My Beautiful Enemy, an 11-song (10 originals and 1 Lori McKenna cover) exploration of interpersonal and internal ruptures.

The album’s opener, “Oh My God,” is a breakup song with religion filled with longing and fear, while “New Man” imagines what the Las Vegas shooter must have been thinking immediately after his heinous acts on that terrible night in 2016.

On My Beautiful Enemy, The Syntonics are at least as vital to this record as Andralis himself. Their voices, and even their inhalations, embody the songs with a profoundly human anguish and beauty.
