Sanya N’Kanta drops new Single/Video
The growl of a distorted guitar aches with melancholic desperation as we listen in on the opening bars of “Can’t Stop Thinking Bout You,” the lead single and music video from Sanya N’Kanta’s debut album The Counterfeit Revival, and though it will soon be met with a vocal harmony and a drumbeat that feel and sound just as yearning in spirit, this melodic salvo immediately clues listeners in to just how potent an emotional force they’re making contact with in this stately new song.

Driven as much by the lyrical lashings of an impeccably talented Sanya N’Kanta as it is the churning grooves created by his swaggering guitar play, “Can’t Stop Thinking Bout You” is a statement of identity, and more importantly, a declaration of creativity from an artist intent on making a unique impact this spring.
As the rhythm of the percussion grows stronger with each verse our leading man emits from center stage and the main hook in the song turns sharp and all-consuming, it starts to feel as though all of the implied sonic walls surrounding N’Kanta are slowly closing in, leaving less and less space in the mix for his vocal harmonies to reverberate against the increasingly hollow bassline in the background. Towards the conclusion, as the drums disappear from the musical fabric altogether, their staggered beat seems to linger in the air around us, creating an inaudible stomp
that guides the lead vocal into the darkness from which it first arose nearly four minutes later. “Can’t Stop Thinking Bout You” is indeed a streamlined yet cosmopolitan rookie single from a songwriter I’m very curious to hear more of soon, and though it isn’t necessarily the only hot hybrid on record store shelves right now, it’s definitely becoming one of my personal favorites.
