“Australian guitar phenom” (-Guitar World) Hamish Anderson is quarantining in his native Australia following his 2020 tour of the country with Gary Clark Jr. earlier this year. While safer at home and socially distanced, he’s recorded an intimate, solo acoustic rendition of his song “The Fall” currently charting at AAA and Americana Radio in the states.
“One of things that you’ll notice about hearing ‘The Fall’ that’s emblematic of Anderson’s music is how he chooses restraint and subtlety over grand musical gestures, something that isn’t always the case in the blues-rock genre… Of course, Anderson could never have expected opening line of “The Fall” (“Drifting aimlessly from day to day”) to be so unintentionally relevant in these formless days.” – American Songwriter
Broadcasting to the World from Melbourne, to promote his latest single, “The Fall,” Hamish will take over WDST Radio Live Stream for their Sofa Sessions on 6/18 at 7:40 EST; as well as #BluesMonday on John Lee Hooker Official page for a Facebook Livestream this Monday, June 22 at 5:30 pm PT/8:30 pm ET. On June 27th, he’ll be appearing on Rockwood Music Hall’s Facebook and Instagram Live Stream for a full solo acoustic show.
The #BluesMonday performance is an honor for Hamish Anderson, who looks to John Lee Hooker as an inspiration musically, and most notably on full blown, dirty, fuzzy, pure rock and roll track “You Give Me Something” from 2019s album Out of My Head. “Sonically, I wanted something that sounded like a cross between John Lee Hooker and Marc Bolan in the modern age,” explains Hamish.
Hamish has been keeping busing performing at virtual festivals, social media takeovers and shows such as Jam in the Van’s 420 fest as well as a Jam in Your Van Instagram Live performance, Americana Highways “Live From The Quarantine” and more!
