Interview With Chart Topping Country Starlet Ashley Puckett

Pittsburgh born and bread country music artist Ashley Puckett is riding a wave of success at the moment. Her 2nd single, “Bulletproof” took her all the way to the top of both the AM/FM country radio charts (according to New Music Weekly magazine) and the iTunes country song charts in South Africa. With her debut album, “Never Say Never” poised to be one of the most celebrated freshman releases this year, Ashley took some time to answer a few questions for us…
Congratulations on your latest single release, “Bulletproof.” It seems to be doing very well around the globe. Tell us about the song, the production, the recording process.
Ashley Puckett: Thank you! “Bulletproof” was such a fun song to record! It’s a very up-beat, sassy, energetic song that is also very relatable. This song is our second release off of my debut album, “Never Say Never”. This song along with 12 others were all produced at Tonic Recording Studio, and we had an absolute blast recording this one, myself, Bryan Cole (Producer) and Doug Kasper (Sound engineer). I think i enjoyed this one because it was a song that let my personality come out a little differently than with some of the more romantic songs. It’s one that alot of women can relate to when you have a man that just has to always be your knight in shining armor and never wants to let his guard down, but it’s okay once in awhile, and you don’t always have to walk on water, walk through the fire, or in other words, be bulletproof.
Who are your biggest influences? Who are you listening to these
days?
Some of my influences are Carole King, Leann Rimes, Lee Ann Womack, Jo Dee Messinna, and Miranda Lambert. I listen to so much music. Lately, i’ve loved alot of Miranda, Mitchell Tenpenny, Cole Swindell, Keith Urban, Kelsea Belerini, and so many more!
Tell us about Pittsburgh. What do you love most about it? Is there
anything you don’t like?
I love that there is usually always something to do. The scenery is absolutely beautiful, especially at night. I love my Pittsburgh Steelers!! There’s a lot of music and nightlife if you want an exciting fast paced evening, or if you are looking to just chill and wind down, you can find it all. There’s also many different restaurants that i love! I love food! haha.
You are known for being an adventurous person. What is the most
adventurous thing you’ve ever done?
I suppose jumping off of a bridge or out of a plane is pretty adventurous to most, but thus far, i’d say the most adventurous thing ive ever done is when i was a co piloton an L-39 Albatros Fighter Jet. We got to do some barrel Rolls, Tail slides, which was my favorite because of the weightless feeling, and hit about 4 G-s. That was definitely an experience of a lifetime.
What are your goals/hopes/dreams/fears for your music?
My goal is to share my music with as many people as possible. One of my biggest goals in the industry is to win a Grammy. I know this is a business full of many many talented artists and i’m not sure i have any one particular fear in mind, i just keep moving forward and make every little victory count for something.
Beyond “Bulletproof,” what else does Ashley Puckett have planned for
music lovers in 2020?
I can’t wait until we release our next single! We’ve not particularly planned the next one yet, however, i am just excited to see how far we’ve come from “Medicine” that released in August 2019 to now with “Bulletproof” in January 2020, so i’m looking forward to the continued support and growing fan base. Also, a few more shows will be popping up it looks like now that things are starting to go back to normal little by little i’m hoping.
Alot of people were disappointed by the cancellation of SXSW in
Austin, TX, CMA Fest in Nashville, and many other festivals this year,
due to the CoronaVirus. What are your thoughts on the cancellations?
Were you personally affected by the cancellations?
Yes, i was very excited to head down to Nashville for CMA Fest. It was disappointing for sure. This would have been my first time at the Festival as an Artist and i wasn’tthrilled to get the news. Although, they did hold off a bit longer when things were being shut down and cancelled so i did have time to see it coming i suppose. I know theydid it for everyone’s safety, not much was known at the time about what’s going on and they were just looking out for the fans and the artists.
Any more single releases or music videos planned for 2020?
Most likely, yes.
Thanks so much for taking the time. Any last thoughts you’d like to
share with our readers?
I’m just really grateful for everyone that takes a moment to read, watch interviews, and listen to my music! All of my goals i hope to achieve can’t be done without you! So, Thank you!
