New Dark Indie single from Wood Lake – “Lost Meaning”
The first single from Wood Lake’s upcoming Dark Indie/Neofolk release will be publicly available on August 28th.
The single, entitled Lost Meaning, features a wash of blown-out guitars and ice-cold synth leads that stand on either side of a piano-based, atmospheric interlude laced with the ambient sounds of Amsterdam.
With carefully crafted vocal melodies and an infectious bass line tying the song together, Lost Meaning represents an unprecedented step in Wood Lake’s sonic experimentation. In addition, the song also continues to reflect the most quintessential aspects of the sound they developed on past releases such as Purgatory (2018), Hell (2016)and For Future Generations (2014).
Lost Meaning is the first of three singles off of Wood Lake’s third album, Mer Bleue, which is scheduled for release on September 25th, 2020. The album is set to be the band’s most polished and daring project yet, featuring new instrumentation and production techniques as well as taking inspiration from the band’s home of Ottawa, ON and frontman Harry McGuire’s adopted home of Warsaw, PL.
