EP Review: HeIsTheArtist “Roots”

Relaxing, calming and peaceful – HeIsTheArtists’ new ‘Roots’ EP is the perfect occasion for some downtime, meditation and cleansing of the soul. Free of clutter and chaos, this sweet, easy-listening album mainly features HeIsTheArtists’ voice, blending harmoniously with beautiful acoustic guitars. The album’s spirit and character is comparable to the acoustic classic ‘More Than Words’ by Extreme, with its meaningful songs and smooth, syrupy instrumentation. ‘Bright Ideas’ is an absolute highlight of the EP, as the track features gorgeous guitars over scat-like vocals. The downtempo ‘Dear No One’ is also a standout; wide vibrato vocals come into the fold, along with more of those sweet guitars to produce this gentle track. Another track, a cover of Fleetwood Mac’s classic, ‘Landslide’, gives the song a fitting upgrade, while staying true to its sentimental message and simplicity that makes it such a fantastic song to begin with. ‘Roots’ would serve as a good soundtrack for the quieter moments in life –  it’s a day at the spa, a day when you’re working or studying from home, or driving in the car while it’s raining. In the mood for a soothing, instrument-driven easy listen? We recommend giving HeIsTheArtist’s new EP ‘Roots’ a try today.
