Hardcore rock band Basilisk releases debut EP ‘Medusa’
Release Date: 28th November
With a sense of doom and destruction, ‘Medusa’ is the debut EP to come from Texas rockers Basilisk.
Drawing from a range of influences including Punk Rock and Hard Core they fused this with the heavy down tuned guitars of slam and deathcore and percussive lyrics in a Nu-Metal style. The result is a fantastically paced four track EP, which is planned as the first of three installments from the band.

“Being from Texas we wanted to give nods to our metal forefathers like Pantera and Drowning Pool to bring our version of heavy metal to the scene.” explains Basilisk who balance out the slow bpm and dark heavy chords with poppy riffs and two step beats. With ‘Medusa’ they display a masterful control of rhythm and melodies and have us excited to hear more.
Basilisk teamed up with Metal Dave Media to shoot our first video ‘InShadows’ and linked up with fellow musician and graphic designer/animator Geoffrey Knecht for a special Halloween animated video.
Basilisk started in spring of 2019 as a multi-ethnic All-American beat down hardcore project compiled of Jimmy MF Bones hailing from Dallas, Texas, Chris Edwards, Jonathon Baker from Fort Worth, Sam Boatner from Kansas creating dark and yet catchy tunes.
The band describe their sound as “a surprisingly palatable blend of Southern Metal and American Beat Down that is reminiscent of influence’s past with a modern flair.”
Tackling big and difficult themes in their lyrics, Basilisk are unafraid to ruffle feathers and use the opportunity to write about suicide, recidivism, institutionalization, politics and overcoming anger and hatred. With EPs planned for release throughout 2020 and 2021, these next few years are going to be big for the Texas rockers.
Basilisk’s second single ‘Dominant Species’ ranked #4 on the “Banks Music Promotions top 15”.
