IndiePulse Music Magazine was contacted by Josiah Bussani, and he introduced me to his group Karman Street, a 4 piece band that blends lines between Rap and Indie rock / Bedroom pop.
He told me about their latest single “Carousel”, and said “Our name derives from a phenomenon in fluid dynamics called a Karman Vortex Street. It is the process of airflow after its path has been disrupted by an object in its way. In one way or another, music is our vortex street. It is our process to get through the things that stand in our way and disrupt us. It is the path we take to find ourselves and each small initial movement reverberates outwards growing as it goes. Just like a vortex street, it can be messy, chaotic and unnerving at times; but in the end, our music is a way for us to give words to emotions that otherwise wouldn’t have words.”
“Carousel” is a great track, emotionally driving and ambient with playful and diverse tempo arrangements. this song really fills your mind with thoughts about where you stand in life, though the song sounds amazingly simple, it is significantly complex.
One becomes awash with thoughts of living life fully and unreserved, but then reminds you of life’s consequences. I may be reading more into it, but it does have that feeling, a “oneness” with ones own thoughts while swaying to a beat that draws you in.
Listening to this and their other track “Phase Me” which seems to be an introspective piece that comes about to a full and synergistic beat.
Definitely check Karman Street, they have a great sound and deserve your attention.
