“The World Peace Formula” by Sankarshan Das
To say that 2020 has experienced a shortage of positivity wouldn’t be doing this year’s misery enough justice, but in response to this, singer/songwriter Sankarshan Das has released a new single and music video in “The World Peace Formula” that sees him determined to right the ship through the majesty of song. Melodic and pleasing to the ear regardless of your typical choice in genre and style, “The World Peace Formula” is easy-listening gold with a fist-pumping statement of peace among all humankind that comes in stark contrast to much of the divisiveness emerging from mainstream pop, hip-hop and rock in the last year.

There’s nothing artificial in this mix, and by that I mean you will find no plasticized synthesizer harmony, nor a robotic metronome acting as some sort of contemporary drumbeat in the backdrop.
Das approaches this content much as he has everything else in his professional music career – with a straightforward personality that enriches a narrative even more through melodic moxie than it does predictable lyrical lashings. The sting here is from the collective and not a specific feature, which makes every second of the song feel as important as the one to have just preceded it.
Folk-pop fans who have an interest in smart lyricism and even smarter creative instrumentation can’t go wrong with what Sankarshan Das is doing in “The World Peace Formula,” and I wouldn’t be surprised if this track and the music video that it inspired continued to do well into the springtime as well. There’s nothing quite like a single that makes you feel good when just about everything else is having the opposite effect, and luckily enough for Das, he just so happens to be the man responsible for delivering us the best sort of jam we could be spinning in the new year.
