”Good Time’n” by Water To Wine is the next single in their string of releases with yet another quality gem produced. The credit goes to each-and every musician in this band of which I am not familiar with who is who, but as an entire unit that are fantastic. The lovely female vocals play twin lead with male vocals and they are backed by what are simply a killer band of musos to top it off and vice versa. Praise is not without hesitation here because of that, but I did get to know more of their music after being inspired by this upbeat track.
This is a great ensemble of musicians and the songwriting and production and-also of the world class variety. It is never easy to review a song without giving artist credit too, but it changes with more content and this is no exception to that rule. Water To Wine are an Atlanta based country and classic rock band, essentially combining the elements which meet somewhere between that and modern Americana to an accessible degree. The combo is no easy feat without being strongly rooted in country music values, even though rock plays a huge role in their sound.
You can hear the soul and passion between these two singers and the rest is pretty much a gravy train, and if you listen to more from Water To Wine you can hear a pattern of that in all the music. “Good Time ’n” starts off with a vocal shout out to the contagious chorus which comes on strong throughout the song. But the song itself is about having good timing by the end of the week and how it’s always good when things go like that, especially when everyone is just trying to get by, and it plays well to the current state of making a living in the pandemic.
Water To Wine have a big sound without being overproduced or understated like some bands in and out of the garages of the world, they compete on their own level and the power of music bringing people together and it is written all over their music. “Good Tme’n” restores faith in country and classic rock in a time that calls for more of the quality they bring and the prowess they possess, and it doesn’t even take two spins to hear that much from this immensely satisfying group.
The guitars are clean, the lyrics are fun, and the entire arrangement is complex but never boring. “Good Time’n” is a song of substance by a band of substance, and that is why it stands out and should be heard as it hits shelves in 2021. It comes highly recommended and I’m glad I got to hear it in advance and give that opinion, but it also comes with top marks to the band which I am also glad have my attention. Water To Wine are an outfit of honest to goodness sincerity on the level only the greats of the past seemed to come by.
