The Dead Daisies Drop New Single/Video

A scooped riff as big as a mountain. The flagrantly violent bassline that shadows its every cathartic push towards the edge of the speakers. Percussive thunder that rains down upon us unforgivingly, only to leave just enough space in the atmosphere for a lead vocal from Glenn Hughes capable of hypnotizing anyone in earshot. We’re in the center ring with The Dead Daisies in the latest addition to their powerful rock n’ roll circus “Holy Ground (Shake the Memory),” and despite the pressurized backdrop, their melodies are as cutting and effective as any to have influenced the rock n’ roll narrative in the past half-century. While previous releases from The Dead Daisies

have focused a bit more on Hughes’ vocal than they have anything else in the mix, I personally would have to call “Holy Ground (Shake the Memory)” a true showcase for lead guitarist Doug Aldrich, whose chops have never been as highlighted as they are here.

He’s really pummeling us with the solo that kicks in right around the three minute mark in the song, and if given the space to do so, I haven’t any doubts as to whether or not he would go straight Hendrix and transform this composition into a mad extended jam.

Just when you think you’ve heard everything rock n’ roll can muster and experienced every curveball 2020 could potentially throw in your direction, The Dead Daisies return to the spotlight with another smash in “Holy Ground (Shake the Memory)” that is guaranteed to please the rocker in all of us this winter. December is never a good month for rock, let alone in a year that has loudly put concerts to bed for the foreseeable future, but if there’s anyone who can give it the right shot of adrenaline we truly need, it’s this amazing supergroup.
