Sweet and Dreamy Music from Bad Sleeper
'Take It Back' is the latest track to be released by the band Bad Sleeper coming out on February 5th.
Do you ever feel like you’re buried in wasted time? “Take It Back”, the sophomore quarantine single from Philadelphia’s Bad Sleeper, explores the urgency to take back control of your life in a COVID-ridden world where no one feels like they have agency over anything.
Drawing from old school rock and metal influences such as Black Sabbath and Deep Purple, the band created a song that provides a sense of familiarity while incorporating modern elements that continue to push the boundaries of their sound. While we’re stuck in this COVID purgatory, ‘Take It Back’ challenges us to reevaluate our present choices and to realign our inner compass.

Founded in the early months of 2019, Bad Sleeper have been discovering their own personal blend of alternative rock through harmonized guitar riffs, textured synth layers, soaring vocals and heavy drumming. After almost a year of playing in basements and venues around the Philadelphia PA area, the band released their first singles, “Can’t Describe It” and “You Are That Sky”; two tracks packed with angst, philosophy and love. Bad Sleeper crafted their next single “Storm” via zoom calls and sending recordings back and forth during the quarantined early months of 2020. “Storm” paints a picture of the inner storm we all experience inside.
The band’s second single of the year, “Empty Room” is a “dark-pop” song written by Marcelyn and Bad Sleeper’s Juliet Eve. Both bands recorded a version of the song in their own styles, with one being described as “slinky neo-noir synth-pop” and the other as “heavy and riff-laden” by The Philadelphia Globe. Bad Sleeper is currently working on writing and recording new music.
‘Take It Back’ will be the group’s 5th single release and is a great track for those that like using their head for more than just something to hold a hat. I definitely consider Bad Sleeper to be a “Thinking Person’s” band, lyrically thoughtful and seriously wicked talent. The band has tight music compositions that are well proportioned to the music, no struggle to make it out, their use of clean guitar riffs and bold percussion makes this track superior, and the vocals are powerful and driving. Bad Sleeper has a definitive hot with ‘Take It Back’
