You know a music project is going to be a spectacular body of work if it is inspired by a real-life experience and its title track written by an impeccable, Grammy-nominated artist. Gary Pratt is an exceptionally talented Country singer and songwriter and his highly-anticipated LP Something To Remember is a musical masterpiece to look forward to.
Pratt’s previous albums Don’t Walk There In My Shadow and Angels In The Snow were both critically successful. Something To Remember is, however, a special body of work for two reasons. First, Gary has never gotten more open and honest on any album like he has on this particular project. Gary bares his soul out on the songs in the album and explores several topics close to his heart without fear or restraint.
Second, the album’s title is inspired by Pratt’s late brother as he puts it in his own words, “I picked that title because of my brother’s death a few years back.” Pratt is a visionary artist who always strives for excellence, but the fact that this album is an ode to his beloved brother is probably the reason why he has outdone himself artistically. The lyrics are vivid and compelling, the instrumentation fantastic and the overall creative vision simply amazing.
Something To Remember has a total of eleven tracks making it lean enough to be easily digestible and still giving Gary enough track time to articulate his creative story. The album is well-balanced in terms of perspective variety. Six of the songs are Pratt’s original compositions while he recruits the talents of other collaborators for five of the songs. The notable personalities on the album include Grammy-nominee Tony Arata, award-winning vocalists Savannah and Matt Westin, and musician Adam Ernst.
From songs like A Song You Can Drink Beer To and Sounds Like Whiskey To Me to When It’s Our Love That’s Lost and Till Your Boots Are Dirty, Gary covers everything from love and heartbreak to fun and enlightenment. He is reflective and analytic of life’s mysteries while not losing sight of its moments of merriness and happiness. Something To Remember feels like a musical documentary of his life and country fans all over the world will delight and indulge in its artistic beauty for a long time to come.
