Matt Westin Aims To Please On “Thin Blue Line”
An elongated, intriguing instrumental introduction kicks off this anthem – soothing guitars and drum beats eventually leads us to Matt Westin’s rich, deep country voice that could command any room in an instant. An ode to our brave law enforcers and frontline heroes, (“It’s the line that’s drawn in brotherhood/For the ones that protect and serve”), Matt Westin’s new single ‘Thin Blue Line’ is a well-produced song that’s as rousing and inspirational as they come. Westin’s strong vocals blend in well with the elevated chorus, as well as the background vocals that further uplift the song’s strong message (“A salute to the fallen heroes/For the honour they have earned/We’re the flashing lights of justice who wear that badge with pride/Standing shoulder to shoulder/Sharing the sacrifice”). ‘Thin Blue Line’ ends in an awakening fashion, as the choir comes in with an exciting electric guitar solo and Westin’s impressive final adlibs. Westin’s latest track touches on an interesting (and highly relevant) topic that rarely gets written about in contemporary songwriting – and it’s arrived in good time, especially with everything going on in our world right now, and all the chaos that’s transpired over the last year or so. All in all, ‘Thin Blue Line’ is a solid rock and country song that will please listeners of the genre, and beyond.
