The vibes of love go a long way in the music and video of “Good Ole Love” by Kenny Black, Shimmer Johnson, and Stephen Wrench, and it has so much more to offer than words can say. You just can’t knock a good thing, but you can help spread the word about it. This is a good thing if I have ever heard it, but it does not come a long every day, so it is important to note these are very-good musicians/singers/songwriters of which I am not familiar. But it has the impact I am looking for when it comes to ballads, although it is an upbeat and positive one.
I am all for watching videos during the lockdowns, and that was not always the case before, so it gets high marks for the visuals that go along with the song and keep you interested all the-more. And I am still not that wild about videos in general, but there is nothing over done about this one. It is a very laid -back presentation to go with the laid- back song. The vocals are mad with relaxed passion, as they intertwine- together between the singers in classic duet fashion, turning out an undeniably awesome sound.
The vocals in “Good Ole Love” feature lots of lead parts from each singer, as well as lots of parts where they harmonize together. This can be described as simply magical, but also detailed as nothing complex as it just glides along and flows like butter. And the music is also syncopated the same way, with an electronic touch, but not to the extreme of EDM music. But that is not to say you cannot dance to it, because that is one thing the song is good for in abundance and for which it is guaranteed in measures without limiting its purpose. I can imagine kicking back and hearing “Good Ole Love” on loop for an entire afternoon at the beach, any nice long drive or just relaxing around the house. This also coincides with a lot of music coming out in the pandemic that does not have this positive and uplifting spirit, so it is almost medicinal like to hear such a sweet piece of music after all these months. It does not matter if it is pop and rock, or any other sort of music, dance oriented or not, this is a track that speaks volumes above most on the current music scene.
You can tell everyone involved is a top-notch pro, even on the video points to be made about “Good Ole Love.” Because even though the song does not have much subject matter, it has a seriously hypnotic groove that puts you in a trance within seconds and keeps you there for the duration and leaves you wanting more. I just wish I could say more about the song and the musicians, but I am glad to hear it and see the clip as well. I give it tops marks on all counts from front to back, including the spot-on production and sound mix.
