Sung in English, the trio More Than Words hails from Germany. Comprised of 

family members Stephanie Hertel, Lanny Lanner and Johanna Mross, this track isn’t the first time these angelic voices have struck the right chord. Previous releases like the album Home and the single “Christmas Time For Everyone” resulted in a top selling spot on the Amazon Country chart in Germany, as well as accolades from numerous tastemakers. 

Perhaps what’s most endearing about this group, besides the fact that they are a unit in real life, it’s the joyousness in their lyrics. We don’t have to die to go to heaven, their voices. Yes, you can tell the lower bars are Lanner’s vocals, but they all weave together like a cherished family quilt that has been passed down for generations. And I wonder, I wonder…heaven is a place like this, their voices sing. The vocals are so engaging, so enthralling. Beneath their singing, an almost glowing riverbed of piano, tepid percussion, and a cozy string orchestration (very faint), meanders about. This vision, this world they create in the song, is free of pain and anger. To say this song puts you in a good mood is an understatement. It’s like waking up to the perfect day, being outside and feeling the warmth of the sun on your face the entire song duration. It felt like it’s one of those songs that just needed to be added to ‘life’s’ soundtrack or playlist.

I do think fans of pop and country will adore “Heaven Is A Place Like This”. The steps More Than Words takes to create a song with more depth and dynamic vocals is wonderful. I felt like they did this song in one take – a seamless example of their natural talents. It’s genuine and doesn’t dilly dally with too many bells and whistles. It’s wholesome and just the perfect tempo and rhythm to do a slow dance to (hint, this might be the wedding song you and your fiancé have been searching for?), or just the perfect tune to get you going on a lazy Saturday morning. When you connect to a song like this one, the imagination takes hold and artists such as More Than Words grips you with their fantastic range. “Heaven Is A Place Like This” isn’t reinventing the wheel or will rock your socks off – but it will transport you to a beautiful sonic escape that only you can determine. This is a song that feels timeless and as a listener, it’s a privilege to be a part of this positivity and loving sentiment.
