“Come And Getcha Some” by Charlie Kulis Band

The secret is out – “Come And Getcha Some” is a bonafide hit. This sprite new single comes from the Charlie Kulis Band, a country band that cradles the rhythms of country music’s past and thrusts it into the current soundscape. Where other songs rely on cliches and overzealous steel pedals, “Come And Getcha Some” pulls itself up by the bootstraps on its own merit.

Toe-tapping to this one is easy. Charlie Kulis Band, based in New York, leaves little room for respite. A quick change up, a vibe worthy of the Saturday night country bar or Thursday evening city amphitheater, “Come And Getcha Some” goes into precise detail all things that summer in the south (or anywhere) brings. Baseball games, grilling hot dogs and burgers on the grills, playing guitars outside and more. Not only does this band capture a feeling, but they also capture a summer’s diary worth of memories and special moments in this upbeat blast. It’s a nice place to visit and makes you want to stay awhile. It’s like returning to a spot that never disappoints and fills your cup. The glass feels half full on this one.

Basking in the melodic guitar, the honey-dew dipped arrangement, as well as the clap along percussion, “Come And Getcha Some” hardly feels long enough. I was ready, raring to go when the song ended, and I immediately hit repeat. Off road, way into the back woods…come and getcha, come and getcha some, the lead singer sings. He’s cool toned, a bit gravelly voiced. He sounds like a cowboy that witnessed some parties, as well as a few barnburners. Brazen in their lyrically approach, only because they are authentic, Charlie Kulis Band has a bit of a laissez faire way about them. They are just living their life, doing their thing. They aren’t restricting their sound and they certainly invite their listeners to come one, come all. No shirts, no shoes are necessary. The gregarious lyrics, flushed with the whaling guitars and full drum fills – take it all in. It works and they have it chugging like a finely tuned machine. I almost felt like I was listening to the soundtrack of a beer commercial, or a chamber of commerce ad for Louisiana or Georgia. This song serves up a lot of joy, a lot of laughs, a lot of ‘yeah, I do that too!’ and more.

What a thrill to listen to this one – I’m a convert to the scene that is the Charlie Kulis Band. For a split moment, I thought I might want to hear a ballad for their next single from this synergized band. Nah. Keep those fun, sing along hits coming. I want some pep in my step and I want to be cranking songs like “Come And Getcha Some” on my speakers this summer. Windows down, driving that car down the highway and loving life – this is the perfect addition to my summer plans. So, make your own plans to add “Come And Getcha Some” to your to-listen-to list.
