Exclusive Interview with Edwrds
Big Welcome to Edwrds! You have a new song out today titled “Look” congrats! Tell us more about the story behind this song?
Thank you! “LOOK” began from the feeling of not being heard or seen. That feeling motivated me to not hold back and say whatever felt true for this track. Honestly just let the confidence do it’s thing for “LOOK”. I try to stay humble about everything I’ve achieved and built but “LOOK” is the filter completely off.
When you are writing music – what is your process like – can you share a little more about that?
I try to treat every song different from the last. Putting in practice, different methods of creating music has allowed me to not be confined to one genre or feeling. Sometimes it begins with a beat and then lyrics come later. Sometimes I have the whole song written before the beat is even made. As long as music is being made, I’m happy.
How would you say the city in which you grew up influenced your music?
The Hip-Hop scene on Long Island is epic. The history of different styles practiced here and lots of parties definitely sculpted my sound in the early stages of creating music. I love the beaches here as well. Writing at the beach is a lovely time.
Do you have any plans for a tour coming up?
Yes! I’ll be on The Boys of Summer Tour this upcoming Summer 2021.
Catch me at 9 different cities across the United States.
When fans come to see you live or listen to your music – what do you hope they take away or feel after listening?
I feel like there’s a big difference in the intent between live shows and simply just music. If i’m performing live I plan on giving everyone an Edwrds experience. That means my focus is on what they see and hear all making sense together. If a fan is just listening to my music however they are soaking in the music and letting their mind take them on their own journey.
Now that I’ve established the difference, I can answer your question…
At live shows I just hope people feel joy and love, and leave inspired to do what they’re passionate about. If we’re talking just them and the music though, that’s for them to decide. I believe by yourself music is meant to be interpreted.
What has been your favorite song (other than your own) released in 2021 so far and why?
This is so hard to answer! Let’s go with “t h e . c l i m b . b a c k” by J. Cole. Why?
Cole is an amazing lyricist and storyteller. I had to replay Cole’s album a few times after the first listen.
Where can we find the new music and find you on social media?
