Izzie’s Caravan Delivers Excellent New Album “Blow The Lid”

Izzie’s Caravan are back with a brand new album, and that’s always exciting to see. Between their delicious licks and musical chops, the band always brings garage rock to a new level, and their latest album Blow The Lid is exactly more of that. It puts the listener front and center, and blasts them with killer riffs and energy akin to that of a live gig.

For the uninformed, Izzie’s Caravan are a blues rock band that trace their roots directly to Dire Straits’ massive hit, ‘Money For Nothing’. Izzie, the man behind the guitars, vocals and caravan, claims that “Those powerful drums followed by that insane guitar riff had such a profound effect on me, after that, I always knew that guitar would have some part to play in my life.”

This album has been coming for a while now, as the band have been frequently releasing new singles from the album over the past 10 months, and they’ve all been great. Between the angsty vibes of ‘Stick It To Ya’ to the slamming sound of ‘Roadkill Rita’, it’s exactly the type of package you’d expect from Izzie’s Caravan, and it delivers beautifully.

The lyrics are equal parts impactful and cheeky, as is the band’s prerogative. A lot of the lines here touch upon social matters and political issues, though they’re all treated with a hint of playfulness that keeps things light and fun. Izzie’s raspy and angsty delivery works well to deliver a full package that hits all the proper notes while showing off some legitimately fun songs.

The instrumentals on here are great; they’re technically impressive and sound wonderful, and the arrangements are fantastic. ‘Blow The Lid’, the title track, features blaring sirens and cannons that catch your attention. Following this are some interesting sections where the song seamlessly switches between high energy frenetic sections and low energy slow sections.

These sorts of musical ideas appear frequently throughout the album, and they make it a joy to listen to. They really showcase how skilled the band are at what they do, and it’s all extremely creative stuff.

It’s truly an excellent album, and another solid project from Izzie’s Caravan, and one we can fully recommend anyone listen to.
