Forever Young
Eryn Young is a musician from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. At first glance she may look like a young teen but, don’t let looks fool you. She is becoming an established singer at 22 years old. Beat stylings and singing comparable to that of, Ellie Goulding, she is definitely making waves in the music business.

With a pretty solid (and impressive) fan base of just over 22,000 on Spotify, This singer is leaving her musical mark on the world.
Her latest release, Time, boasts an impressive beat with rich bass and harmony. Professionally arranged vocals make a big impact on this “Trancy” vibe track.
Previous to Time, her single, Gone With The Wind shows off more of her impressive vocal range.

I welcomed Eryn to the podcast and radio family with a back and forth Q&A.
Tell us a little bit more about yourself, Eryn.
Hello! My name is Eryn Young and I am a 22-year-old singer-songwriter from Toronto, Canada! I love blending genuine, ethereal lyrics with modern synth dark pop sounds to create truly expansive pieces of work! You can find me on Instagram and Facebook, and any major streaming platform
One thing that I’m always interested in, when I sit down and chat with artists is, what their defining moment was that they knew that they wanted to be in music… What was that moment in time for you?
I’ve been writing songs and singing in private ever since I was little, so I can’t exactly remember a specific defining moment that led me into music. My mom is extremely talented in music and singing, so I guess I was always surrounded by it in some form. I initially entered the entertainment industry as an actress, before taking a break to pursue a degree in business in order to be able to build a sustainable career in entertainment. I believe as my confidence grew in university, I became less afraid of potential backlash to releasing music and realized that my experiences may be able to help even one person get through a difficult time in their life. I began to reflect on where I would be if my favourite artists had been too afraid to put themselves out there, never releasing the songs that have truly changed my perspective of the world. I realized even waiting until my 20s to pursue my passions had already built up many regrets within my mind, thus I was determined to change and live in a manner where fulfilling my own dreams takes precedent over the doubts of others.
What motivates you? Not just in your music but in your normal life as well.
Achievements and continuous self-improvement drives my motivation throughout all aspects of life. I feel very proud of myself when I am able to impress others and grow my own perception of my capabilities. I dislike feeling unproductive, and genuinely want to make my parents proud out of my own desire

Who, musically, is one of your bigger influences
Without BTS I don’t know if I would have ever began releasing music; the scale of their art includes dance, acting, music, visuals – it’s truly a full production that has inspired me to use all of my artistic passions, including acting within the art I create. Furthermore, the attention to mental health struggles within their lyrics highly resonated with me. I am also really thankful to Billie Eilish for bringing a greater appreciation of head voice and the power of delicacy into pop music. Lyrically, I’ve learned greatly from Halsey and Taylor Swift’s storytelling ability in song
Do you create music often? When can we expect another release?
Absolutely, creating music is so fun and helps me relieve stress so I’m always working on something between school assignments. I currently have 5 songs ready for upcoming release this year, and a bunch of collaborations lined up. You can hear me on Vyblektro’s upcoming EP on the track ‘Lonely Summer’, and WATEEN’s upcoming EP on ‘Who Were You’ out July 9th 2021.
What tips or advice would you give someone that’s just starting out in the music game?
If no one ever heard your music, would you still enjoy creating music? I think genuine passion really shines through in art, and in any industry it helps you keep your head up through the challenging times. Humble confidence is so infectious and rare; if you believe in you, others will too. Beyond that, I’d recommend all artists familiarize themselves with entrepreneurial methods in order to best understand yourself as a brand and how to optimize the value you’re offering to your listeners.

Eryn is definitely someone to keep an eye on. Starting off as young as she is, she will definitely have a huge impact on the music world.
