Piki Launches Quantitative Music Discovery

Piki, the Music Discovery app, offers a new data algorithm defining popularity metrics for music.

Since their spring release of the app, industry reaction has been tremendous.

How does Piki work?  Using a “like swipe” function, the Piki interface invites you to be a music critic!

Piki will play the most impactful 30 seconds of a song. Next, you’ll have the option to Like, Dislike, or SuperLike.

The more songs you rate, the more rewards you’ll reap – $1 per level (though the real reward is the discovery of new music!) The more you use the app, the more the algorithm will get to know your taste. Think of it as musical roulette – you won’t know what’s coming, and the next song might just be your new favorite.

Piki processes the data and derives a quality score, which measures the probability a song will be liked by a new listener.

Piki is aiming to work in tandem with labels and publishers to help determine the success of a new album or song.

In short, you decide which new song will be the band’s new single!
