Bloodlines, Vol 1 by OurNova

UK artist OurNova released a 3 track EP, Bloodlines, Vol 1, presently available on Spotify and Apple Music is an surrealistically eclectic and avant-garde series of emotional and vibrant songs.

The track Lights has an ethereal and melancholic vibe, visions of lonely in a room the silence deafening yet it is broken, if only momentarily buy the vocalists own heartbeat, the sirens in the track are well placed, accentuating a dire emergency, of one looking to be saved,  if one can be saved from their own life.

This song is followed by the track Chemtrails_ which is just as subtle as the opening track, though it has a more upbeat tone, the rhythm connecting on the off beats, the song supported by the harmonies droning on in the ether.

The EP ends with Nicotine & Nosebleeds, a darkish and synth-pop trill and then opens up to a lighter singularity of hopeful and bright memory of times gone by, wishing to go back, to before it all came crashing down.

Yes, I sound dramatis, but this is the energy of this EP and it is astounding to get so much emotion, and so many brainwaves flowing from 3 songs that touch so deeply

Now another track on OurNova’s Spotify that is not part of the EP Bloodlines, Vol 1 is a track entitled Would You Carewhich looks to have been released around the same time, this is unlike the other 3 tracks of the aforementioned EP, EP Bloodlines, Vol 1, to me, seems to be introspective, a person’s thoughts about things that cannot be changed, where Would You Care is a jubilant song, asking not only “would you care” but “can you care, will you care, you should care, I care”…

OurNova hails from a place that historically is drenched in mystery and fantastic lore, Wizards and Kings, rain drenched shores and brisk foggy mornings that last until sunset. And it plays into the music; there is a mysterious connection with the earth in his songs, a soul searching for a kindred soul.
