Had an interview with these fellas to find out a bit more about them. Check it out.
Hey, very happy to welcome you to the Radio Show and Podcast community. Tell us a little bit more about yourself. Introduce yourself to the community.
Hi, thanks for reaching us ! We’re glad to be here. So, we are an alternative rock band with some metal and progressive inspirations. People usually say that we have a 90’s rock sound, but we also like to modernize stuff like analog synths. So, let’s say it goes from big heavy riffs to soft and melodic tracks!
One thing that I’m always interested in, when I sit down and chat with artists is, what their defining moment was that they knew that they wanted to be in music… What was that moment in time for you?
We have met in college and discovered that we were both introverts while opening up to the world through music. Listening to music is one of the few moments when a person can let go of their emotions without confusing their mind. Making music is about creating those moments when a person is focused on their feelings. So, we wanted to offer an escape through a journey. We like to share something with people, so here we are.
Do you mix and master yourself or do you have an engineer or a producer that works with
We wrote and released out first EP “To Genesis” in 2020, fully self-produced. We are recording at home and two friends of us have mixed the thing. Nevertheless, we made it being mastered by a professional studio.
Right now, we are more into a « singles » mood. It’s not the same amount of work than for an EP, so we are now mixing by ourselves in our home-studio, then we give the mastering to an engineer, depending on the style of the track.
What motivates you? Not just in your music but in your normal life as well.
Feelings. That’s why we’ve decided to make music at first, because it’s the only thing capable of making us really emotional. So now that we know that we are slowly starting to get really engaged people, who help us to build a momentum between each release… It’s becoming more motivating day after day.
I am personally on a mission to get good music heard by everyone. What is one thing that bothers you the most about trying to come up in the music world today and, do you prefer being underground or, is the mainstream something you strive for?
We definitely have an underground sound. We are not sticking to basic song structures, there’s a mix between singing and rap vocals parts… Sometimes, there’s also a big bridge with instruments only. It’s not an easy way to come up in the music world today. That’s why we have tried to produce something different for our next song, which will be more in a mainstream vibe even if it has the foundations of our sound. But today, there’s really a lot of musicians, bands… You cannot success if you are just only playing music.
Who, musically, is one of your bigger influences?
Twenty One Pilots, without any doubt. They can’t be defined by a certain music genre, they’re really polyvalent. Each album sounds different and it’s always surprising.
One question that I like to ask artists is, how did Covid affect your music in particular and the music scene in your area?
Here in France, there’s no music shows since the last summer. Obviously, we haven’t been able to play gigs for the moment, since the band was still in building before the pandemic. We were in a songwriting process, not so much live rehearsal at this moment. But during this year, we learned a lot about ourselves, how to build a great workflow, we upgrade our songwriting and producing skills… So, to be honest, Covid really helped us in a certain way, since we had a lot of time and we lived together.
I, myself, personally think that there’s too much social media out there to keep up with. I understand why it’s necessary but there’s a ton of it out there. What are your feelings on social media and music today?
We didn’t care so much about social media until the quarantine. We had a lot of free time and we had the feel that we were needing to improve this side of our music. You’re right about the fact that there’s too much social media vibe today but it’s also a chance to be discovered being totally independent. Everyone can make it on its own and build a strong relationship with its fans. At least, that’s how we see social media and how we are trying to implement them.
Do you create music often? When can we expect another release?
We have released our debut EP in October, then a single track on January, so we seem to be quite consistent. Our last song gave us a lot of work so it took some time, but it’s ready now and it’ll be on Spotify on June, the 18th. The music video will come later on YouTube. We have built a good workflow so hopefully, we will release a track every 3 months.
I grew up in the 90’s, I listened to everyone from Dr. Dre, to Weezer, to Pink Floyd, Metallica, Cypress Hill and back again. I truly believe that the 90’s were one of the greatest era’s for original music. Which era of music is one of your favorites?
As we said before, our sound is often compared to 90’s era and it’s one of our favorites. Our music takes elements from grunge, progressive and metal too, and all of these styles started to be really interesting in this era.
If you could swap yourself into a different artist, who would it be?
We are definitely not able to choose a single one… We talked about Twenty One Pilots but we are inspired by Muse, Hollywood Undead, Linkin Park, Royal Blood too… They are plenty of them!
What tips or advice would you give someone that’s just starting out in the music game?
First songs suck, like… they really suck. It’s true for everyone so you just have to keep trying, again and again ! Even if a song may be not so good, let’s finish it anyway ! There’s nothing worse than let a lot of unfinished songs. And finally, Internet is a great tool, so you can learn a lot of stuff, from producing to mixing.
I want to thank you for this Q&A, Is there anything you want to say to everyone out there? Shout outs?
Even if we take music seriously, we like to create some funny stuff as we would define ourselves as a « cool » band too. So, we have tried to make our social media a good place to discover us and it’s not a « music only » platform. To the person who is reading that, you’re more than welcome to join us on Instagram and on our YouTube channel ! Stay safe !
