Randy Seedorff Is Dynamic On “Never Alone”
“Never Alone”, the latest single from Randy Seedorff’s 3rd full-length album, Begin Again has been released to much attention and anticipation. Following the success of “Dream” and “Family Tree,” “Never Alone” builds on the themes of faith, hope, and inspiration as Randy Seedorff channels his pastoral might into a country tune, which entertains and challenges his listeners. As a pastor of worship and discipleship at Trinity Church of the Nazarene in Independence, MO, Randy, and his band Soul Purpose have been utilizing country music as their medium for inspiration since 1992. “Never Alone,” showcases this maturity and experience in popular music as it delivers an exciting Country twang, with a melody listeners can dance along to while focusing on the task of delivering a positive, uplifting message. Lyrically, Randy creates a metaphor for the overlooking presence of a guardian looking over all of us, by writing this song as a compelling narrative: “A hundred things, a hundred ways, Echoes of moments from yesterdays. When you try to run, you can’t hide from the memories, sneak up behind you. All the feeling chills you to the bone, cause you’re Never Alone.”
“Never Alone” is a perfect third-singe as Randy Seedorff and Soulful Purpose have amassed much attention to this project, and delivering this guitar-lick-laden track solidifies the enthusiasm we share for the entire Begin Again release. The band is incredibly tight on this track as Randy explores many musical phrases throughout the main call and response style of guitar playing. These open cadences deliver a tension throughout the piece, that Randy is able to release with his dynamic vocal abilities. “Never Alone” would be an ideal track for any Christian, and Country radio playlists. Coupled with the blues undertones this track would appeal to any blues fan and musician looking to emulate these blues styles. A very enjoyable track, and an exciting medium for the underlying message, “Never Alone” will be used for congregations, however, a national release on major platforms should garner Randy Seedorff and Soulful Purpose much success as a Country act.
