Exclusive Interview with Liv Byrne

You are releasing your new song next week! Will you tell us about it? 

I am! Of course! On Oct. 22nd I am releasing my single “mad at you.” It discusses one of the first stages of getting out of a toxic relationship – admitting to yourself you don’t want to be treated like this anymore.

What was the coolest part of the creative process?

I make most of my music by myself but for this song I asked my friend Eryck Bry to help me with the production. I learned so much from him and I definitely grew a lot creatively. I’m self-taught in everything so the coolest part would probably be validation of my ideas. For example, I wanted this hi-hat sound but couldn’t find anything that sounded like what I was hearing in my head so I just took out my mic and recorded me banging my hand on the floor. Eryck asked what the sound was and I explained and he was like ‘oh that’s so cool, let’s both bang on the floor together to make it more intense.’ It showed me that there are no limitations when it comes to music-making.

What are you looking forward to the most as you start releasing all of this new work?

Connecting with new fans! I’m doing this bit on my Tiktok where whenever my follower count hits an angel number, I release a snippet of an original song off my upcoming album. I’ve met so many people because of those Tiktoks and…I mean…they’re like really cool people too, and they like my music? It’s such a heart-warming experience.

What has been the most rewarding part of all of this so far?

Definitely those connections. People telling me their thoughts on my music or how they’re excited for my release. It feels like my heart is going to burst out of my chest at any moment. My lyrical structure is my personal thought-process so when someone says they like my music, it’s the best compliment I could possibly receive.

What are you hoping that listeners will take away from your new music?

I hope they feel seen/heard in their thoughts, opinions, and emotions.

Well, let’s just say….this single is just the start.
