Indie Music is Going to be The Next Target In Entertainment Betting

The online casino business has grown exponentially in the last ten years. The current market size is around $59 billion, and much of this growth comes from traditional players (blackjack, roulette, etc.) and sports bettors. However, as of late, an overwhelmingly popular niche in online gambling has not been sports or blackjack but rather entertainment betting. In this article, we will explore what entertainment betting is and how indie music has the potential to become a favorite in it.

Introducing Entertainment Betting

This type of gambling involves betting on scripted shows and reality shows. For instance, individuals can bet on Strictly Come Dancing odds 2021. Strictly Come Dancing is a British television reality dance competition where individuals bet on the celebrities they think will win. For instance, actress Rose Ayling-Ellis has odds of 1/10 to win. Bettors can comb through weekly Strictly Come Dancing tips to see what people are saying about past performances so they can choose the most accurate odds.

When it comes to scripted shows, Game of Thrones was the most popular show to wager on between 2011 and 2019. The final season was hyped up in multiple ways, including betting sites offering odds on who would sit on the Iron Throne at the end. Similar to reading tips, during the final season, many viewers went on social media platforms like Twitter to see how accurate their predictions were for the final season’s big reveal.

It is worth mentioning Game of Thrones’ final season was also marketed in other ways. For instance, the show released its For The Thrones soundtrack. The album features chart-topping tracks by dozens of big-name artists, including indie-pop icon Lennon Stella.

Indie Music Is Sweeping

Now, you might be thinking, what does this have to do with indie music? That’s a reasonable question, and we’ll explain it. It turns out indie music has serious potential in entertainment betting. That’s because more and more of the award shows and reality competitions popular with bettors have become dominated by indie artists.

For instance, the Eurovision Song Competition is a massive event for the betting community, and in 2021, Italian indie-rock band Måneskin won the international songwriting competition. Måneskin is one of the biggest bands to grasp the North American market in 2021 after their song Beggin’ went viral on Tik-Tok. Similarly, Billie Eilish was favored by bettors to clean up at the 2020 Grammy Awards — and she did just that. Eilish went home with five awards, including Song of the Year and Best New Artist. The individuals that bet on the indie-pop artist didn’t have a bad night either.

There is no doubt the popularity of entertainment betting will increase in 2022 and beyond. New niches in gaming are appearing all the time, and anyways, a new year means another year of award shows, television shows, and emerging artists and music. We also have no doubt indie music will continue to dominate this sector of gambling, just as it did in 2020 and 2021.
