Exclusive Interview with Noir Dream
Describe the band “Noir Dream”s vocal & songwriting style to your potential new fan base..
The lyrics are written by either Will or Jared & then edited by Andrew, Will & Jared… Often when it is just Jared & Will, they sit in a room & Jared will play a new melodic bassline. Will might pull out a poem he jotted down a year or so ago & the songwriting process begins. The entire experience often leaves us overwhelmed with gratitude.
Name a few of your musical influences..
Cake, Muse, Imagine Dragons, Bach, Motzart, I don’t know how but they found me, The Neighborhood, Jackson 5, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Foo Fighters, Weezer.
Tell us something truly interesting about the band leader/founder that is not music related…
Jared & Will are brothers, biologically Jared is Will’s Uncle. “I am his Brunkle and he is my Brofew” Will was adopted by his grandparents.
How would you describe the music scene in your city?
Portland has been hit hard by Covid restrictions. Playing in this area is extremely competitive & the crowds are kept small.
What is the best concert you have ever been to?
Cake (Jared) Black Sabbath or Skillet (Will) Marianas Trench (Andrew)
What do you enjoy most about performing LIVE?
The ENERGY of our adoring fans!
What’s your favorite original track on your latest EP/CD?
“Perception Deception”, or “Goodbye Daylight”
How have you evolved as a band over the last couple of years through the pandemic?
We have only really known the pandemic version of our band. Before the pandemic we had formed www.madhattermusic.org (check it out) as a way of connecting musicians on the topic of mental health. As the pandemic took hold, we focused our efforts here. We received global recognition. Next, with “Album 22”, we established cross genre collaboration & compilations with a worldwide community of artists. We have been able to tighten our production and improove the quality of the music we are sharing. Overall, we grew leaps & bounds in the pandemic.
If you could co-write a song, have dinner, with any band or artist (dead or alive) who would that be?
The Neighbourhood (Will), Cake (Jared), Marianas Trench or Gerard Way (Andrew)
What’s next for the band’s music career vision?
Continue to write music intended to inspire healing, overcoming challenges & cross genres for compilation and collaboration purposes. Noir Dream would like to thank you for this interview.
