GOV’T MULE  – PERFORMING ON FRIDAY,  JUNE 24

One wouldn’t think that in a career spanning more than 25 years and some 20 live and studio albums, there could possibly be anything left for a band to accomplish that could be considered a first. And when that band is Gov’t Mule, a group known for pushing the parameters while melding a variety of genres — rock, R&B, jam, funk, jazz, and practically everything in-between — it’s even more astonishing to think there’s anything that hasn’t already been attempted. Indeed, Gov’t Mule have never been known to rest on their laurels or shy away from a new challenge. Theirs is a sound that feeds off spontaneity and improvisation, a signature style that pays little heed to expectation, predictability, or needless repetition. Consequently, it’s not so much surprising that they’ve opted to record an album focused solely on the blues, but rather the fact that they haven’t dared to do it before. That said, the band’s new album, Heavy Load Blues (released November 12, 2021 on Fantasy Records) marks yet another milestone in Gov’t Mule’s remarkable trajectory. Yet, it’s also been a project that guitarist, vocalist, songwriter, and consistent helmsman Warren Haynes has set his sights on undertaking for quite some time.

Tab Benoit – rrespected guitarist, vocalist and storyteller supreme – is renown throughout his thirty-plus-year career for his passionate environmental activism. To that end, he performed two nights in his hometown of Houma, Louisiana at the 16th Annual Voice of the Wetlands Festival. He also appears prominently in the IMax motion picture Hurricane on the Bayou, a documentary of Hurricane Katrina’s effects and a call to protect and restore the Wetlands, and produced a CD to help restore that state’s Coastal Wetlands. Benoit was inducted into the Louisiana Folklife Center Hall of Master Folk Artists in 2020.

About the Grand County Blues Society: The Grand County Blues Society (GCBS) non-profit (501c3) was created in 2002 to enhance the cultural existence of Grand County residents and to be a beacon for our friends and visitors that love escaping to the shadow of the Continental Divide. SOUTHERN HOSPITALITY – PERFORMING SUNDAY, JUNE 26

The South has long been known for hospitality and down home music. Recently the region has seen the emergence of a musical group of young musicians who are masters of their craft and embody the soul and spirit of Dixie. The band creating all the buzz, known as Southern Hospitality, is comprised of lap steel guitar master Damon Fowler, guitarist extraordinaire J.P. Soars, keyboard wizard Victor Wainwright, bassist Terrance Grayson, and drummer/percussionist, Chris Peet. Together, their mutual chemistry, high energy and skill sets create a cohesive vision, with echoes of Muscle Shoals and Macon, that organically flows together into an entirely original and dynamic form of Americana, Southern soul roots music with a modern sensibility.

lue Star Connection (BSC) is our most notable program and in it’s seventeenth year, has supplied over sixty-five Children’s Hospitals with valuable and plentiful collections of musical instruments for their music therapy departments. BSC has also gifted over eight-hundred individual children personal instruments. We continue to support the music therapy industry with an all-out effort and constant fund-raising to continue the mission. Music Therapy needs an advocate, and we are proud to be considered a front-runner. We have done all of this with an all-volunteer board, and a very loyal and generous membership.
