Though veteran singer/songwriter Dave Vargo the first to admit that lyrics are always the biggest challenge and 99.5 percent of the time he’s humming the melody and harmony for a while first, once the poetry emerges, he opens worlds of intrigue and insight. It’s an intriguing thought that applies to the numerous musical lives Vargo has enjoyed and struggled through over the years. Back in the day – we’re talking way back in the day – he launched his career as a globally well-traveled sideman for two late greats, singer/songwriter Phoebe Snow and the legendary Whitney Houston. Great high-profile gigs, but in later years as he developed a career outside the industry, his longtime desire to write and perform his own songs led him in the mid-2010s to start gigging and establish himself as an indie artist of note with his first two albums Burning Through (2016) and Spaces in Between (2019).

Vargo’s release of Crooked Miles will give fans some more exciting options on great songs to remember in the future as part of his legacy.
