Ok, who is Mr MooQ?

Mr MooQ has always had an aptitude for music, so, naturally writing and producing music became a lifelong pursuit. His earliest memories find him playing the piano by ear, then taking lessons, writing songs, performing with bands in his teens, and recording on an old reel-to-reel with his geeky friends. 

After studying music at the University of Minnesota and UCLA, he began to record in professional studios. There he met older, successful musicians who encouraged him and taught him much about songwriting and producing. He bought into a partnership of a recording studio in Van Nuys, California, working with many of the finest artists at the time.

Everything changes, so in time Mr MooQ moved back to Minnesota where he built Danger Studios, a full-service recording studio. He released a dance single “Blue Light” with his group The New Occupants which became a worldwide success. Billboard magazine even called it “a kiloton of dance fun!”
After years in the advertising business as a Clio award winning producer of jingles, TV &  radio commercials, and films, he changed his career to music full-time and began recording under the name of his imaginary childhood friend, Mr MooQ. His first single “Dreaming in Color” rose to #36 on the Billboard Indicator chart. He followed up with “Are We Good” which held the #1 spot on the New Music Weekly/Top 40 Indie chart for eight weeks in 2019. In 2020 and 2021, Mr MooQ had two songs, “Good Luck with That” and 

“No One,”  which both hit #1 on various charts including DRT (Digital Radio Tracker) chart, Record World, Cashbox, New Music Weekly Indie Chart, and Starfleet Dance chart. From there Mr MooQ released  “Retro Girl,”“Return to the House of Wax,”“Bend the Ear of the World,” and now ” I Dream Big,” which hopefully will climb the charts like so many others.

When interviewed by IndiePulse Music Magazine for his number one hit “No One” Mr MooQ said: “Even though indie artists probably only get a partial listen or one complete listen to their songs these days, I always hope that I can connect to all those special people out there that like good lyrics and can even appreciate a story with their music.  I love all music genres and try to combine musical styles and grooves without getting too weird or taking away from the vibe of the song.”
