Josh Field, an artist that has been and still captivates the hearts of his fans with songs of the soul is once again in our spotlight, with the talent that shines like a brilliant sun on a musical landscape, exposing all the hills and valleys of a rich soundscape he has made his home.
Recently, Josh Field gave fans their first peak at his forthcoming release effort, a 2 track EP which is really a teaser for a fuller more exciting and story filled album “As The Wind Blows”, this two track teaser has been released to Soundcloud, and soon other streaming services.
The 2 track EP, titled HOPE FIEND features the introspective love song “The Last Time” followed by the powerful everyman philosophy of the soulful ballad, “Shine On.” The two songs provide an exciting peek under the hood of what promises to be a ground-breaking record. are impressive pieces of music in a country western / traditional folk style, tried and true and full of glamorous imagery. The tracks “Last Time” and “Shine On” are equally brilliant and magical in composition and performance.
“The Last Time” is a song of regret, a man thinking of hid life, things done and left undone, maybe realizing his promises are things he cannot do, and now, he may not be long for this world, and his regrets are minor to the ones he leaves behind. A sad and yet beautiful song of the last thoughts of a life lived.
“Shine On” gives the impression of making the best of what you have, may not be the richest, the brightest, or whatever may be the hot ticket of the moment, but the narrative voice finds there is hope in the air, and faith in the self is string enough to carry you through the darkest days… both songs capture the philosophical and the revertant.
For the better part of a decade, Josh Field has traveled the highways of America, sang songs and told stories. In that time, the Austin-based musician and his band Brother Nothing have carved their own unique niche in the Americana music scene with a blues-fueled country-soul vibe.
