Blank Canvas by ChamTech (Chameleon Technology) is very reminiscent of old school punk, full of power and energy, aggression and disappointment with society order. just listening to the first few moments of the first song “No Safe Word” it is driving and sucks you into the song, head first and you drown in the bliss of pure angst. “Serin’s Vending, I hear the Dickies and the Killer Clowns Sound, Ramones and Killing Joke, drenched in the music of my youth, Yes and 80’s Rocker here. I also cant help but hear some of the inspiration of Oingo Boingo, but dont get me wrong, their sound is pure, no shlocky covers styles, this is real punk, “Lifestyle Science” and “Self repair” are freaking awesome, very visual in the lyrical excellence. the tempo from “Self repair” is a bit Rockabilly, but works so well, its almost a Modern Folk / Youth Anthem, I would have to say this would be an “A”Side on a 7” single, “B” Side, possibly an Acoustic Version? The last Track, which is the band’s official video release, “Blank Canvas” is a killer track, the music is so drawing, the lyrics clear and so easy to find conclusion with things from life, and that’s what music is about, feeling that someone out there knows what you’re thinking.
ChamTech has an excellent focus, the musical talents are obvious, this is all studio recorded, but I am 100% sure that they would slay live, I am going to watch this group and report more when possible, this is not just punk, Chameleon Technology is the Science of Aggression, Better Living Through Standing Tall… POGO !
Chameleon Technology, or ChamTech, was founded in August 2009 with the 5 song release, Aquatic EP. Max Histrionic participated in several local bands as a drummer, all the while writing the steamrolling micro-anthems that would eventually become the self-titled album. In summer of 2015, the idea to pursue a one-man, live stage show occurred to Histrionic, and Chameleon Technology’s Live Multimedia Experience came to be.
High-quality audio of real bass and drums are synced with live action video of Histrionic performing both instruments and are then projected next to him playing guitar and singing live. Blank Canvas (2016) sets ChamTech apart from its earlier iterations, as song writing develops into more progressive, rich and lyrically-aware pieces.
