Krish Valentine’s “All Yours”

Pop aficionados need to check out Krish Valentine’s new single “All Yours” this February and find out precisely why critics like myself are falling head over heels in love with the rising indie star’s latest work. This isn’t the first hit from Valentine – in fact, far from it, as he’s got another track and music video he’s dropped within the last few months. He’s been running with a pretty impressive level of talent since he was a kid, but as a professional artist he’s only recently begun tapping into his experimental side, and “All Yours” is evidence of his hard work in stereo.

As I mentioned, Valentine has turned in some fairly noteworthy vocal work in his first two songs, and I think this is the more physical of the two. “All Yours” has a much tighter look and feel than what I was anticipating out of an indie pop track so early on in the year, and it seems to me to have more of a nightclub complexion than any of his rivals have been experimenting with over the past couple of years. Valentine wears it well, and I for one think that he’s sounding more like a professional on this track than any of his competitors have in recent times.

A muscular master mix helps us to hear every little stitch of detail in Valentine’s voice in “All Yours,” and there’s no shortage of wonderment to appreciate. He comes into the chorus with a lot of patience, but as it reaches a fever pitch, he lets his hair down and goes all-in for a climax that stands up well against anything I’ve heard all year long. He’s got a little bit of soul in his voice when he hits the refrain, but with a bit more vibrato in the finish that gives his vocal a sleek, contemporary energy as well.

There’s a lot of color in Valentine’s dispensing of the lyrics here, and if you didn’t think that this talented young powerhouse was capable of singing just about anything that you could throw in his direction, you’re going to after giving this single a dedicated spin. “All Yours” is a song that was built for the stage rather than the studio, and yet it’s got an infectious pop hook that is almost guaranteed to make it a winner on college radio and indie pop stations across the country this coming spring season.

I love what Krish Valentine is doing with his songcraft, and while I’ve heard a lot of really thrilling new music from artists across the pop spectrum this last month, “All Yours” is by far one of the most emotional and accessible in terms of contemporary-sounding pop songs. I’ve got a feeling that this won’t be the last time that this singer makes headlines in the underground for his stunning sound, and if this track gets the widespread attention that I think it’s capable of garnering, he could easily segue into the mainstream market before the year comes to an end.
