Until The Sun, Alt-Blues/Rock Band On Tour; Two SoCal Shows, Woodystock Blues Festival, Rhythm Room

Until The Sun, an alternative-blues/rock group formed in 2017, are making their mark with high-energy live shows and solid recordings, including their latest, A Night At The Rhythm Room. Their music includes and often fuses elements of Blues, Alternative Rock, Pink-Floyd-esque Psychedelia, and Jazz.

The Phoenix-based quartet (Brandon Teskey, guitars; Alyssa Swartz, vocals; Jay Zarecki, bass; Chris Tex, drums) have opened for many famous blues and rock artists, while playing world-renowned venues. Until the Sun released their first album, Blackheart, in 2019 and followed that up with 2021’s Drowning in Blue. In 2022, Until the Sun released a live album consisting of mostly new material,  A Night at the Rhythm Room, recorded at the famous Rhythm Room in Phoenix. The band members poured their hearts and souls into striving for what was before-unattained levels of musicianship, songwriting, tone, and performance, as they continue to develop both musically and professionally.

What The Press Is Saying: A Night At The Rhythm Room & Until The Sun

“A Night In The Rhythm Room is a scorching soulful blues/rock record with finesse and panache, mixing in elements of jazz and psychedelia for unforgettable listening, proof that capturing lightning in a bottle is possible. The band is firing on all cylinders here; Brandon Teskey on guitar, drummer Chris Tex and Jay Zarecki on bass. While the solid rhythm section and gorgeous guitar playing are important, the key (for me at least) is singer Alyssa Swartz, loading the songs with sass and attitude, adjusting her approach to whatever the song at hand requires. She’s one of those singers you could listen to all day.”

THE ROCK DOCTOR

“Until The Sun have a very different sound than the mass of bands I’ve heard over the years, dark and soulful with huge space and an incredible focus on the bassline…vocalist Alyssa Swartz has a deep and bittersweet vocal style and guitarist Brandon Teskey plays some exquisite solos. Jay Zarecki on bass guitar, and Chris Tex on drums produce a brilliant foundation for Swartz & Teskey to leap up from. Overall a brilliant album, one that I will be enjoying a lot, I feel.”

“On ‘A Night At The Rhythm Room,’ Brandon Teskey’s skillful and emotive guitar work does an excellent job of alternating between rousing rock riffs and slow, moving blues solos. Alyssa Swartz’s vocals are equally flexible. At times she can sound sweet and ethereal, such as in “The 4th Turning”.  Her effortless, yet incredibly powerful vocals adopt a wonderful sultry rasp in many other songs.  There are few singers who can meet the challenge presented by covering Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love,” however, Swartz is one of the few who can meet those high-set bars.”
