1 Simon Felice – The Radio (5)
Off his debut album a few years back. We can’t get enough of him or his brothers. But this album is especially sublime and should have won every single grammy for 2012.
2 Chimes of Freedom – Jungle Rock (73)
How come every song titled Jungle Rock is bloody brilliant. Drum solo is great.
3 Creature Comfort – Alone By Your Side (77)
Manchester cultsters are back with a new single and it the best thing we’ve heard from them in ages. Forget Cabbage et al . James meets the Doors with rock out guitars… yes please.
4 Martin Hannett – Yeah Yeah Yeah (107)
Yes that Martin Hannett, he of Unknown Pleasures et al. With Steve Hopkins, all in all rather relaxing.
5 Heat Wave – Psychic Powers (175)
Brand new. On a split 7 with Piss Factory, let’s hope HeatWave didn’t get the B-side.
6 The Scottish Enlightenment – Keep The Cats Outside (189)
We concur. All they do is come inside and demand food.
7 Bernard Estardy – Le Vin Le Pain (228)
70’s French dude, recently re-issued. Great album actually. What could be more French than Le Vin, Le Pain.
8 Amit – Red Flag (232)
Just out this week. Love the way they slowed down and dubbed up the dubstep. Top tune.
9 Jerry Spider Gang – I Need More (734)
More French stuff . Back from 2011 but well worth an inclusion. Garage proto rock at its best.
10) Vinny Peculiar – Anthony Gormley (972)
Something from genius English songwriter and cult hero, Vinny Peculiar. A paean to loved British sculptor, A. Gormley, and the penises on his sculptures. Why can’t everybody write songs like this.
