Dynamic duo Stevee Wellons and Cheryl Rinovato are Soulful Femme; a Pittsburgh-based jazz fusion outfit. The band’s latest single, ‘Trouble’, is an accomplished tribute to the swinging night-spots which played host to the decadence and swing of the early jazz movement. Complete with walking bass lines, ecstatic piano parts, bristling drums and noodling guitars, ‘Trouble’ comes a-knockin’ on the door of jazz / blues enthusiasts all over town. The track sparks imagery of classic John Hughes films, in moments where John Candy is overcome by the infectious groove of similarly smooth musical motifs. In these days, when people are looking for less trouble, Soulful Femme remind us of the good old days. Back then, everybody wished for a little trouble to come knocking on their door.
